A Truly Unforgettable Experience Having traveled from coast to coast over the past 30 years, we have had the pleasure of visiting countless establishments—but none have left an impression quite like Wool Growers. From the moment we stepped through the door, the warmth and kindness of the staff made us feel like part of the family. We always seek out family-owned businesses during our travels, and this gem stood out in our search. We are so grateful we found it. The food was exceptional—flavorful, authentic, and clearly prepared with great care. The portion sizes could not fit on the table. Just as impressive was the impeccable service. Every staff member was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. We had the honor of meeting the owner and learning about the family’s rich heritage, which added a meaningful personal touch to our visit. It’s rare to encounter such heartfelt hospitality, and we truly cannot express how thankful we are for the experience. In three decades of travel, we have never encountered hospitality of this caliber. This establishment is a shining example of what makes family-owned businesses so special.

My wife and I had lunch at Woolgrowers. I had lunch and dinner there about five years ago on a business trip. We were seated quickly, and our waitress showed us the menu, and offered recommendations. We had the Thursday special - garlic fried chicken with carrots. We really enjoyed the family style soup, salad and bread. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, well seasoned and tasting great. I think Woolgrowers is the best Basque restaurant I have ever tried. Besides the high quality of food taste, the photos and decor is very pleasant and enjoyable.

I've been going to Wool Growers since the 70s-80s. The food has always been excellent and the service top notch. If you're looking for marble floors and crystal chandeliers you're not going to find it. But, the food and service makes up for the "Glam".

A town staple. Woolgrowers has been serving great food for decades and never really disappoints. Food was served in a timely manner. My filet mignon was a bit overcooked but all in all a great visit.

We order ox tails and lamb chops per recommendation of the restaurant for traditional basque food. They are so good. Ox tail is so tender and tasty. It matches the rice well. The lamb chop is also good but volume is smaller and the French fries is so so. We add soup and salad. It is totally worth it. The price is not cheap but with the quality and quantity it is justified. No wonder it has so many good reviews.

Easily my favorite restaurant in town. The Basques know their stuff when it comes to lamb. The family style dining in the back is a blast, great for big groups. Super friendly staff too.

Every time I stop by Bakersfield, I come to Wool Growers. The soup is my favorite. The salad is so fresh. The service is nice enough for a busy restaurant. The prices are really reasonable still. Enough parking spaces.
